The road race of the men at the 1952 Olympics in Helsinki was held on August 2, 1952nd
In the road race, an 11.2 kilometer circuit from Käpylä via Pakila and Maunula had to be covered seven times. This resulted in a total distance of 190.4 kilometers. The race started in the street Koskelantie. In the eleventh round, a group of Belgians, consisting of André Noyelle and Robert Grondelaers and Lucien Victor, pulled away from the field. Also in this group were Edi Ziegler from Germany and Jules Maenen from Luxembourg , who, however, could not keep up with the group after three laps. At the beginning of the last lap, Noyelle broke away from the three remaining riders and was able to quickly gain a lead, which he defended until the finish line and became Olympic champion. His compatriot Robert Grondelaers was able to secure silver, only the German Edi Ziegler, who crossed the finish line in third, prevented the Belgians from triple victory.
Based on the results of the road race, a team ranking was determined for which medals were also awarded.
