Edoardo Rovida
Edoardo Rovida (born August 26, 1927 in Alessandria ) is a former diplomat of the Holy See .
Life
Edoardo Rovida was ordained a priest on June 29, 1950 and was incardinated in the clergy of the diocese of Alessandria . Pope Paul VI appointed him on July 31, 1971 titular Archbishop of Tauromenium and Apostolic Nuncio in Panama .
Cardinal Secretary of State Jean-Marie Cardinal Villot donated him episcopal ordination on October 10 of the same year; Co- consecrators were Giovanni Benelli , Official of the State Secretariat , and Giuseppe Almici , Bishop of Alessandria .
On August 13, 1977, he was appointed Apostolic Pro-Nuncio in Zaire and on March 7, 1981, Permanent Representative of the Holy See to the United Nations Office in Geneva . On January 26, 1985, he was appointed Apostolic Nuncio in Switzerland and on March 7, 1987, Apostolic Nuncio in Liechtenstein . On March 15, 1993 he was appointed Apostolic Nuncio to Portugal .
Pope John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation on October 12, 2002.
