Eduard Christen (born May 19, 1931 in Zingel, Ennetmoos , † May 26, 2015 in Lungern ) was a Swiss , Catholic theologian and dogmatist .

Life

After graduating from the College of St. Fidelis in Stans, Eduard Christen studied philosophy and theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University . He received on 10 October 1958, the priestly ordination in Rome, completed his doctoral studies there and was with a thesis on the term "death" at the church father Justin to Dr. theol. PhD . From 1962 to 1965 he worked as a vicar in Buochs and as a cantonal school inspector.

From 1965 to 1973 he was professor for dogmatics at the Theological University Chur (THC). After taking over the rectorate of the THC from 1970 to 1973, Christen held the professorship for dogmatics and fundamental theology at the Lucerne Faculty of Theology from 1973 to 1996 . From 1984 to 1986 he also held the office of Rector in Lucerne . After retiring in 1997, he taught at the monastery school in Einsiedeln from 1999 to 2008 .
