Eduard Hoppe (born January 28, 1846 in Berlin ; † April 15, 1904 ) was a German landscape architect and tree nursery owner .

Life

Hoppe completed an apprenticeship with an art and trade gardener in 1863/1864. In 1864/1865 he attended the state tree nursery in Geltow , and from 1865 to 1867 the royal gardening school at the wildlife park near Potsdam . There he was a student of Gustav Meyer . After he had passed the head gardener examination in 1871, he went to the Franco-German War and was dismissed from military service as a completely invalid . For his participation in the war he was honored with the war commemorative coin 1870/1871 and the Prussian centar medal.

As a result, Hoppe worked as a landscape gardener and tree nursery operator in Pankow and in Zehlendorf near Berlin (Zehlendorfer tree nurseries) . As such, he took part in competitions for gardens in the German Empire .

In 1883 he won first prize in the international competition for the North Cemetery in Düsseldorf (cemetery “Behind the Tannenwäldchen”). The city of Düsseldorf then commissioned him with the further project planning and implementation.

Eduard Hoppe found his final resting place in the Berlin cemetery in Zehlendorf .
