Eduard Rabensteiner the Elder (actually Rottmann) (born July 24, 1839 in Vienna ; † April 23, 1905 ibid) was a Viennese dance master .

Life

Although Rabensteiner received from his father and mime masters Karl Schadetzky and Johann Brinke a training for professional dancer , but was first clerk. In 1855 he took over the dance school from his father and, at the request of Johann Strauss Sohn, arranged the dance for the balls he conducted. Rabensteiner was also friends with Karl Komzak . He was considered the leading dance arranger in Vienna of his time and also gave lessons at various military institutions.

He is buried in an honorary grave (73-2-64) in the Vienna Central Cemetery.
