Eduard Schleich the Younger
Eduard Schleich the Younger (born February 15, 1853 in Munich ; † October 28, 1893 there ) was a German landscape painter .
Life
Eduard Schleich was born in 1853 as the son of the painter Eduard Schleich the Elder . Schleich attended elementary and Latin school and graduated from grammar school in 1872 . During this time he was already a student of Julius Zimmermann .
After graduating from high school , the father sent the son to the Munich Polytechnic , where he was supposed to be trained as an architect , because the father was against an artistic education. While Schleich did excellently in the artistic subjects, the technical subjects were difficult for him, so that his father had some understanding. He first taught the son the basics himself and then sent him to Joseph Wenglein for training .
Schleich worked as a landscape painter. Unlike his father's, the staffage figures played an important role for him . Stylistically, he is one of the late exponents of open-air painting who turned to Impressionism from the 1890s .
In the fall of 1891 Schleich fell ill and finally died two years later in a psychiatric clinic. His son was the officer and politician Eduard von Schleich .
