Eduard Schneider (cyclist)

Eduard Schneider (born October 27, 1948 in Seftigen ) is a former cyclist from Switzerland .

Athletic career

Eduard "Edy" Schneider began cycling in 1965 . As an amateur , he was a member of the Swiss national railway team . In 1970 he and his brother won the international championship in two-man team driving on the Werner-Seelenbinder-Halle track in Berlin , beating the entire GDR railroad driver's elite. In 1969 both had already won the six-day race for amateurs in Bremen . With Dirk Baert , he also won the 1969 six-day race for amateurs in Zurich . 1969 and 1970 he was a. a. with his brother Jürg vice-champion in the team pursuit .

In 1971 he switched to professional drivers and drove for the Möbel-Märki team , in which the Germans Albert Fritz and Dieter Puschel were also under contract. In 1971 and 1972 he became Swiss champions in the omnium , ahead of Louis Pfenniger .
