Edward William O'Rourke (born October 31, 1917 in Downs , Illinois , USA ; † September 29, 1999 ) was Bishop of Peoria .

Life

Edward William O'Rourke received on 28 May 1944, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On May 24, 1971, Pope Paul VI appointed him . to the Bishop of Peoria. The Archbishop of Chicago , Cardinal John Cody , ordained him episcopal on July 15 of that year ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop Emeritus of Peoria, John Baptist Franz , and the Bishop of Saint Cloud , George Henry Speltz .

On January 22, 1990, Pope John Paul II accepted the resignation put forward by Edward William O'Rourke for reasons of age.
