Edzo Hendrik Toxopeus (born February 19, 1918 in Amersfoort , province of Utrecht , † August 23, 2009 in Oegstgeest , province of Zuid-Holland ) was a Dutch lawyer and politician of the Partij van de Vrijheid (PvdV) and the Volkspartij voor Vrijheid en Democratie ( VVD), who was among other things a member of the Second Chamber of the States General , Minister of the Interior and Minister of State .

Life

Studies, professional career and member of parliament

After visiting the Municipal Gymnasium of Breda Toxopeus started in 1936 a degree in Dutch law at Utrecht University , where he graduated in May 1942nd He then worked at a law firm in Breda and then from 1944 to 1945 head of the legal department of the military authority in Breda before he was head of the legal department of the military authority in Utrecht for some time in 1945 . After he worked as a lawyer in a law firm in Breda between 1945 and 1947 , he became an independent lawyer in Breda and practiced this activity until May 1959.

On June 20, 1980 he was appointed a member of the Council of State ( Raad van State ) by Queen Beatrix, who had only been in office for almost two months , and belonged to this constitutional body to advise the Dutch government after taking up office on November 1, 1980 until November 1.
