Evert (Eef) Brouwers (born March 9, 1939 in Zwolle , † October 6, 2018 in Eindhoven ) was a Dutch journalist , director general and news anchor .

Life

Brouwers began his career as a journalist with the Nieuwe Provinciale Groninger Courant and then as a news anchor for the Regionale Omroep Noord en Oost , Algemene Vereniging Radio Omroep , Nederlandse Omroep Stichting , NOS Studio Sport and NOS Journaal.

From 1977 to 1983 he was editor-in-chief of the North Holland regional magazine Nieuwsblad van het Noorden. Then he was chief spokesman for the Philips group, a position he held for ten years. In 1995 he became general director of the Dutch information service Rijksvoorlichtingsdienst, a position he held until January 1, 2004. Brouwers was replaced by Gerard van der Wulp. Brouwers was a member of various advisory boards.

During the 2004 European Football Championship , Brouwers was communications advisor to the Dutch national football team . He then served on the boards of civil society organizations and on corporate advisory boards.

Awards

Brouwers received several awards: he was an officer in the Order of Orange-Nassau (Netherlands), Commander in the Order of Leopold II (Belgium) and an honorary citizen of Thorn (Limburg) (Netherlands). He was awarded the Cross of Honor in the House Order of Orange .
