Anadolu Efes Biracılık ve Malt Sanayii A.Ş. is a Turkish beverage company, which in turn is a subsidiary of the conglomerate Anadolu Grubu ( Anadolu Group ). Anadolu Efes was founded in 1969 and owns 15 breweries , 6 malt houses and 23 beverage bottling plants in Turkey , Russia and other countries. The name Efes was borrowed from the city of Ephesus , which is near the first Efes brewery in İzmir . The Barth Report 2017/2018 ( Barth-Haas-Group ) listed the Efes Group as the twelfth largest brewery group in the world in 2017.

Anadolu Efes is divided into three business areas:
- Turkish beer business (located in the holding company; 5 breweries)
- international beer business ( Efes Breweries International NV )
- non-alcoholic beverages ( Coca-Cola İçecek A.Ş. / CCİ)
In Turkey, Anadolu Efes is the market leader with 3/4 market share for beer and 2/3 for soft drinks . Five Turkish breweries belong to Anadolu Efes.
Outside Turkey, the group operates breweries in Russia (6 locations), Kazakhstan (2), Ukraine , Moldova and Georgia (1 each). The Einbecker Brauhaus produced Efes Pilsen in Germany from 2010 to the beginning of 2016 as part of a contract brewing contract. Since then, the beer for Germany has been brewed in the Gilde brewery .
Anadolu Efes holds around half of the shares in the fifth largest Coca-Cola bottler Coca-Cola İçecek ( CCİ ) with locations in Turkey, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan , Azerbaijan , Tajikistan , Iraq , Jordan and Turkmenistan . In Pakistan and Syria , CCİ holds half of the shares in beverage companies.
In March 2018, the Belgian beer group AB-InBev and the Efes Group merged their Russia and Ukraine business (on the AB InBev side, this includes SUN Interbrew Limited, consisting of SUN InBev OJSC in Russia and SUN InBev Ukraine PJSC). Both companies hold 50% of the new company AB InBev Efes .
Anadolu Efes has the following owners: Anadolu Group 43.05%, AB Inbev 24.00% and the rest of the shares in free float.
Brands
The most famous beer of the brewery group is Efes Pilsen . It is by far the most widely produced beer in Turkey and is available in around 70 countries. The beer has an alcohol content of 4.9%.

The brewery also produces other varieties: Efes Malt, Efes Dark , Efes Light (with a lower calorific value ), Efes Ice (ice-brewed?), Efes Xtra (with a high alcohol content), Efes Gusta ( wheat beer ) and Mariachi and Mariachi Black with lemons - and agave flavors . There is also the second (specialty) brand Marmara in the strong beer variant Marmara Kirmizi (red) and as Marmara Gold , as well as various non-alcoholic drinks.
Efes has been brewing Miller Genuine Draft since 2000 , Beck’s since 2002 and Foster's under license in Turkey since 2005 .
Sports
The Efes Brewery is the main sponsor of the Turkish basketball team of the same name, Anadolu Efes SK . The team is one of four basketball teams in Istanbul. Efes Pilsen is also the name sponsor of the first Turkish futsal league.
