Efraïn F. Jonckheer Yrausquin (born October 20, 1917 in Curaçao , † March 30, 1987 in Amsterdam ) was a politician of the Netherlands Antilles of the Democratic Party (DP) and a Dutch diplomat who was Prime Minister of the Netherlands Antilles between 1954 and 1968 .

Life

Jonckheer was the founding chairman of the Social Democratic Democratic Party (DP) from 1944 to 1968 and succeeded Moises Frumencio da Costa Gomez as chairman of the governing council of the Netherlands Antilles on December 8, 1954 . A week later, on December 15, 1954, he became the first Prime Minister of the Netherlands Antilles and held this post until he was replaced by his fellow party member Ciro Domenico Kroon on February 14, 1968. He had the longest term of office of all Prime Ministers in the Netherlands Antilles. During his tenure as Prime Minister, he was also Minister for Transport and Communications between 1954 and 1956 and then Minister of Social Affairs from 1956 to 1957.

On February 1, 1968, Jonckheer von Wim Lampe took over the post of Minister Plenipotentiary of the Netherlands Antilles (Gevolmachtigd Minister van de Nederlandse Antillen) in the government of the Netherlands and held this office until January 16, 1971, before Sylvius on February 15, 1971 Gerard Marie "Boy" Rozendal became his successor. He then switched to the diplomatic service of the Netherlands and was ambassador to Venezuela between 1971 and 1976 and then from 1976 to 1980 ambassador to Costa Rica , Nicaragua and Panama .
