Härdler nature reserve
The Härdler nature reserve is a 22.43 hectare nature reserve (NSG) southeast of Milchenbach in the municipality of Lennestadt . The area was created in 2006 with the landscape plan Elsper Senke - Lennebergland. No. 2 designated as NSG by the district of Olpe .
description
The NSG is a 120-year-old, near-natural beech forest with a typical hall structure and parts of dead wood north of the summit of the Härdler mountain at 756.3 m above sea level. NHN . The area is mostly at an altitude of over 700 m above sea level. NN .
In hardwood stands over 120 years old, up to ten strong old trees per hectare, especially eyrie and cave trees, are to be determined and left as old or dead wood in the stands for the decay phase.
Protection purpose
The NSG is intended to protect this forest area with beech forests as well as its typical animal and plant species. As with all nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation indicated that the area was declared a nature reserve “because of the rarity, special character and beauty of the area”.
