Rümperholz nature reserve

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Rümperholz nature reserve is a 56.12 hectare nature reserve (NSG) located east or north-east of Stöppel in the municipality of Lennestadt . The area was created in 2006 with the landscape plan Elsper Senke - Lennebergland. No. 2 designated as NSG by the district of Olpe . The NSG is located on the steep western slope of the Gleierbach valley .

description

The NSG is a 120 year old near-natural beech forest with a typical hall structure and parts of dead wood.

In hardwood stands over 120 years old, up to ten strong old trees per hectare, especially eyrie and cave trees, are to be determined and left as old or dead wood in the stands for the decay phase.

Protection purpose

The NSG is intended to protect this forest area with beech forests as well as its typical animal and plant species. As with all nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation indicated that the area was declared a nature reserve “because of the rarity, special character and beauty of the area”.
