EganaGoldpfeil is a Hong Kong- based former holding company that operated in the fashion , watch , jewelry and leather goods sectors. The European part of the company filed for bankruptcy in 2008 and was then wound up.

history

The company was formed in 1998 from the merger of the Egana companies (with brands such as Dugena ) from Hong Kong and the luxury leather goods manufacturer Goldpfeil from Offenbach. Founder, CEO and majority shareholder was the German leather goods entrepreneur Hans-Jörg Seeberger, who died in October 2007 .

The company's European headquarters were in Offenbach am Main , it had production facilities in Asia and Germany and employed up to 7,600 people worldwide; In 2003/2004 the group achieved sales of 379 million euros.

In 2005, EganaGoldpfeil made headlines by taking over the traditional shoe manufacturer Salamander from Kornwestheim . In 2007 the company ran into financial difficulties and trading in its shares was suspended on July 30, 2007 and thereafter several times. On September 12, 2007, share trading was permanently suspended until the annual results were announced. Within a few weeks, the share lost 90% of its value. The suspected balance sheet manipulation was corroborated by the independent auditing firm KPMG ; Parts of the receivables , sales and profits shown in the balance sheets were considered dubious .

At the end of August 2008, EganaGoldpfeil filed for bankruptcy for the European holding company , and insolvency proceedings were then opened at the end of October of the same year. The Salamander brand was sold at the end of 2008, in the course of 2009 the European holding company of EganaGoldpfeil was wound up, the previous brands were sold and some of them are continued as independent operations.
