The Egola (formerly called Evola and Ebula ) rises in the south-western municipality of Gambassi Terme on the Monte del Cornicchio mountain near Castagno and remains in the municipality of Gambassi Terme for 4 km. It then flows around Montaione to the west and reaches its district of Alberi at an altitude of 100 meters. He spends a total of 15 km in the municipality of Montaione, then moves from the metropolitan city of Florence to the province of Pisa, where he enters the local area of San Miniato and remains a total of 15 km. Here it first passes the district of Corazzano (54 m) and then the district of Ponte a Egola (29 m), flowing around the main town of San Miniato to the west. A few meters later it flows into the Arno from the left , briefly touching the municipality of Fucecchio .
