Egon Christmann

Egon Christmann (born July 7, 1932 in Wattenheim ; † July 12, 2006 in Quickborn ) was a German jazz trombonist and composer.

Christmann is the son of the trumpeter Georg Christmann († August 2003 in Frankfurt / Main), his older brother was the trumpeter Freddy Christmann . In 1949 he followed his brother's example and became a member of the Frankfurt jazz scene. He played in American soldiers' clubs, including France . He was a member of Fred Bunge's band and made records with Duke Ellington , Horst Jankowski and Ronnie Ross . Together with Ross and Hans Koller he worked in two films. Between 1961 and 1968 he played in the Hamburg Studio Orchestra, then from 1970 with Erwin Lehn . He also worked with Rolf Kühn , Bert Kaempfert and James Last . Then he was a member of the NDR Big Band , on whose albums he was also involved. Most recently he appeared with the band River-Side Hot Six , with whom he played Swing and Dixieland in his own arrangements (CD of the same name).
