Franz Egon Freiherr von den Brincken (* 1835 , † 1906 ) was a German diplomat who represented the German Empire in several European countries.

Life

In 1882 von den Brincken succeeded Joseph Maria von Radowitz as Ambassador Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary in Greece . During this time he was with the Foreign Minister Alexander Contostavlos on July 9, 1884 to the signatories of a trade and shipping agreement between the German Empire and Greece. He held this position until in 1887 he succeeded Ferdinand Eduard von Stumm as Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary in Denmark .

His successor as ambassador to Greece was Rudolf Friedrich Le Maistre . As an envoy in Denmark, he turned in particular against the cession of parts of the area of the former Duchy of Schleswig to Denmark , as this would only arouse further desires of Denmark.

After completing his eight years in Denmark, von den Brincken, who was a First Class Knight of the Order of the Red Eagle and a Real Privy Councilor , received his accreditation as Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary in the Netherlands in 1895 , where he succeeded Kuno von Rantzau . His successor as envoy in Denmark was then Alfred von Kiderlen-Waechter . As ambassador to the Netherlands, he signed an agreement between Germany and the Netherlands on February 23, 1898 with the Dutch Foreign Minister Willem Hendrik de Beaufort to expand the agreement on veterinarians made on December 11, 1873.

The office of ambassador to the Netherlands was held by von den Brincken until 1899 and was then replaced by Friedrich Pourtalès .
