from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ehrenfried von Willich (born September 5, 1777 in Sagard , † February 2, 1807 in Stralsund ; full name: Johann Ehrenfried Theodor von Willich ) was a Protestant field preacher in the Swedish body regiment of the queen in Stralsund.

Life

Ehrenfried von Willich came from the Willich theologian family from the Mark Brandenburg . He was born in Sagard on Rügen as the son of the pastor Philipp Georg von Willich (1720–1787) and half-brother of the country doctor Dr. med. Moritz von Willich (1750–1810), the first rural physicist in the Principality of Rügen .

Willich was initially an educator and partner with Wilhelm Graf von Schwerin-Putzar in Prenzlau . Since the spring of 1803 he was field preacher with the Queen's body regiment in Stralsund, which at that time belonged to Swedish Pomerania .

In 1803 Willich became engaged to Henriette von Mühlenfels (1788-1840), who had been orphaned for two years and was just 15 years old, daughter of the royal Prussian lieutenant colonel Friedrich Gottlieb von Mühlenfels († 1801), landlord on Sissow (now part of Gustow , Rügen ), and Pauline from Campagne. On September 5, 1804, he married the now 17-year-old. The two children Henriette (1805–1886) and Ehrenfried von Willich (1807–1880) came from this marriage . Willich had been a close friend and correspondent of the theologian Friedrich Schleiermacher since May 1801 , who in 1809, two years after his death, married Willich's widow Henriette, now 21 years old.

Almost two months before the birth of his son of the same name, Willich died during the siege of Stralsund by Napoleonic troops (see: coalition wars ) of nervous fever ( typhus ), which was rampant in the city at that time.

  1. According to other sources: 1773.
  2. Some sources, including Schleiermacher experts, incorrectly refer to Ehrenfried as the significantly younger brother of Pastor Heinrich Christoph von Willich , but he was actually Ehrenfried's uncle (39 years younger brother of Ehrenfried's father).
