The Eifelpark is a wildlife and leisure park in Gondorf near Bitburg in the Eifel .

history

In 1964, the Eifelpark was opened under the name “Hochwildpark Eifel” as the first game enclosure in the Federal Republic of Germany. With the introduction of the brown bears in 1969, Berlin took over the sponsorship of the Bärenschlucht. In 1975 the then Prime Minister of Rhineland-Palatinate , Helmut Kohl , opened the new mountain game park in the Eifelpark. In the years that followed, other attractions were added (such as a slide paradise, roller coaster, Eifel Express, jumping cushion, all-weather toboggan run, etc.). Since 2004, the Eifelpark, which until then was run together with the Kurpfalz-Park and the Panorama-Park , was administered from Haan (near Düsseldorf ).

At the beginning of 2009, six Canadian Timber Wolves moved into the enclosure next to the natural Bear Gorge.

In December 2012, the operator filed for bankruptcy.

The park has had new owners since October 16, 2013 and reopened on April 5, 2014.

In the 2014 season, the Eifel-Blitz family roller coaster of the Big Apple type , various bumper cars , a carousel and other attractions were opened. In addition, everything has been thoroughly renovated and invested in the zoo. In 2015, the Gondorfer Piratenschlacht (a splash battle ) and the Eifler water hunt (a crocodile-style JetSki by Heege) expanded the park's offerings.

For the 2020 season, the spectacular new attractions 80 meter Spinning Drop Tower (FunTime) and a 14 meter family free fall tower (Zierer) were added. In addition, a break dance and the Jules Verne Tower are expected to be a guest in the Eifelpark until summer 2020. Two alpacas have moved into the Eifel farm in the park.
