The Kurpfalz-Park is a leisure and wildlife park in the district of the Palatinate country town of Wachenheim in the Bad Dürkheim district ( Rhineland-Palatinate ).

The 700,000 m² (70 hectare) park is located in the low mountain range of the Middle Palatinate Forest at around 300  m above sea level. NHN at the forester's house Rotsteig in the middle of the road triangle formed by federal  highways 37 (in the northwest), 39 (in the southwest) and 271 (in the east). The access via Kreisstraße 16 is signposted from the B 271 from Wachenheim (8 km), from the B 39 from Lindenberg (4.5 km).

The Mußbach flows through the park and, like the creek from the Seekopf , its approx. 800 m long left tributary, feeds a few small reservoirs there. The park area, which rises slightly from the water, is surrounded by moderately high elevations. The highest mountain at 531.8  m , the Seekopf , lies in the north, followed by the Rothsteiger Kopf ( 388.8  m ), the Zimmerberg ( 436.1  m ) and the Taubenrux ( 471.5  m ) in a clockwise direction .

history

The Kurpfalz-Park started operations in 1970 initially as a large game protection park . The amusement park area was gradually enlarged and the forest area required for this was leased from the city of Wachenheim .

After the Schulte-Wrede operating group went bankrupt in 2005 and closed for five months, the previous park manager Peter Braun and Andreas Teipelmann took over the park and have been running it ever since. You are the managing partner of B&T Kurpfalz-Park GmbH , which owns the company. The areas of responsibility are divided into marketing and gastronomy (Braun) and technology (Teipelmann).

The Kurpfalz-Park is visited by around 100,000 to 150,000 visitors annually on a long-term average. We want to bring wildlife and nature closer to the game reserve, wildlife educational show, bird of prey air show and forest educational trail. A special school service for teachers and educators is also offered.

The outdoor area of ​​the forester's house at the entrance is designed as a beer garden . The Wutzels symbol stands for the family friendliness that the park advertises . The Palatinate expression for piggy refers to a costumed wild boar figure, which is responsible for child-friendly information.

The children's world includes the “Pirate's Nest” climbing facility as well as an adventure playground, a maze, a petting zoo, a puppet theater and a play castle. In addition, the free-fall, wave and tube slides, the "Kurpfalz-Coaster", the "Rotsteigflitzer" on the 600 m long summer toboggan run , a chain carousel , the chairlifts of the suspension railway, the ride on the Kurpfalz-Express , the " Bumperboats “and the swan pedal boats on a small reservoir .
