The Daun Wildlife & Adventure Park (formerly called Deer and Saupark ) is a game , safari and leisure park near Daun in the Vulkaneifel district ( Rhineland-Palatinate ). The park is one of four wildlife parks on the German Wildlife Route .

Geographical location

The park in the Vulkaneifel is not far south of the western Daun district of Pützborn and extends in particular on the Wendelsberg ( 514.8  m above sea  level ). It can be reached via side streets of the B 257 .

Park visit

Visitors to the wildlife park drive their own car on an almost 9 kilometer long natural road through the 220  hectare forest and meadow area, like in a safari park . There are many ways to get out and some observation stands. Most of the animals are not locked up, so with a bit of luck, without being separated by a fence, you can stand only a meter in front of a deer or stag to feed them with wild food. Getting out of the wild boar enclosure is prohibited.

Originally the game native to the Eifel could be observed in the Daun wildlife park , for example red deer , fallow deer , roe deer or wild boar .

The park was later expanded to include other species, including sika deer , wild horses , yaks and European mouflons .

Since 1998 there has been an outdoor enclosure for Barbary macaques , which originally come from Gibraltar . The park got 30 pieces as a foundation. There are a lot more now. You cannot drive through the monkey enclosure. There is a parking lot in front of the separated forest. You go on a circular path through the enclosure.

For some years now, the wildlife park has also had a small animal enclosure and a falconry ( bird of prey show ), which entertains visitors with several shows every day.

Visitor facilities

The Daun Wildlife Park has an 800-meter-long summer toboggan run , a playground and several barbecue areas.
