Eik Galley (born July 27, 1967 in Zossen ) is a German journalist and sports reporter for MDR and ARD - Sportschau .

Career

Galley studied journalism at the University of Leipzig . From 1991 to 1992 he was editor of the soccer magazine "Fußballwoche". In 1993 he moved to the then newly founded DSF (today Sport 1 ), where he was a boxing reporter and commentator and reported at the amateur world championships in Berlin in 1995 and in Budapest in 1997. He was also head of the Berlin editorial team at DSF.

Since 2007 Galley has been working as a sports reporter and commentator for the MDR and for the ARD - Sportschau . He comments on football games, especially with East German participation, and individual international matches as well as the program Sport im Osten on MDR. In the winter sports season he is the voice from the off and in interviews during broadcasts of the competitions in luge , bobsleigh and skeleton . In the summer he comments on competitions in boxing, wrestling and shooting.

Galley was part of the ARD commentator team at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver , 2014 in Sochi and 2018 in Pyeongchang and in the 2012 Summer Games in London and 2016 in Rio de Janeiro . He was also a reporter for ARD at the 2018 World Cup in Russia .

Galley is married and has two children.
