Eike Domroes

Eike Domroes (born September 9, 1952 in Hamburg ; † May 10, 2018 in Kulmbach ) was a German actor .

Life

Eike Domroes studied German , literature , philosophy and theater studies at the University of Hamburg from 1974 to 1982 . He then completed his acting training from 1978 to 1982 at the University of Music and Theater in Hanover .

He had his first permanent engagement in 1983/84 at the Stadttheater Pforzheim . There he stepped u. a. as Mortimer in Maria Stuart and as the water carrier Wang in The Good Man of Sezuan . In 1985 he moved to the St. Gallen City Theater , where he was continuously engaged until 1993. Here he took on leading roles in the classical theater repertoire such as Orestes in Iphigenie auf Tauris , Franz Moor in Die Räuber , Hamlet , but also musical roles such as the young journalist Clifford Bradshaw in Cabaret .

From 1996 Eike Domroes was part of the ensemble of the Lower Franconian State Theater / Theater Schloss Maßbach . Here he embodied u. a. Mephistopheles in Urfaust (1999/00 season) and Alfred Ill in The Visit of the Old Lady (2015/16 season). In the later years of his stage career he interpreted numerous comic roles and comedy roles, such as the original Berliner Wilhelm Giesecke in the operetta Im Weißen Rößl (season 2002/03), the title character in Charley's Aunt (season 2009/10) and most recently the gay nightclub -Owner Georges in the comedy A Cage Full of Fools (2016/17 season). Domroes had his last appearances at the Schloss Maßbach Theater in the summer of 2017 as Georges and as Uncle Horst in the farce And eternal the money of the British author Michael Cooney rushes .

Domroes has also appeared in a few film roles. At the end of the 1980s / beginning of the 1990s he took on a continuous role in the ZDF series Hotel Paradies . In it he embodied the hiding insurance fraudster Klaus Feller, who operates a car rental company with a repair shop in Mallorca under a false name . In a theatrical recording of Henrik Ibsen's play Ghosts from the Maßbach Castle Theater, he can be seen alongside Florian Odendahl (Osvald Alving) as the carpenter Engstrand; The production was filmed by Frank Alva Buecheler (director) and Michael Ballhaus (camera) in 2005 under the title “Sunday Air”.

Eike Domroes lived in St. Gallen . He died in May 2018 at the age of 65 while visiting Kulmbach ( Upper Franconia ).
