Ein deutscher Boxer (reference title: Charly Graf - Ein deutscher Boxer ) is a documentary produced by NDR by Eric Friedler (editor: Patricia Schlesinger ) about the German boxer Charles "Charly" Graf .
In 1951 Charly Graf was born as the son of an American occupation soldier and a German and grew up in a Mannheim barracks settlement. When he became a professional boxer at the age of 17, he was called the "Black Bomber". However, Graf slipped more and more into the Mannheim red light milieu, so that he had to serve a prison sentence in the Stammheim prison for gambling, pimping and so-called "brutality offenses" . There he met the former RAF terrorist Peter-Jürgen Boock . This unusual friendship between Charly Graf and Peter-Jürgen Boock is the focus of the documentary. The film shows how two extraordinary personalities learn from each other and how Charly Graf gives his life a formative turn through these experiences.
