action

Jessica Wright is an ambitious lawyer and after her husband passed away three years ago, she is back in the country with her family for the first time. Together with her son Henry, she would like to spend a cozy Christmas time with her relatives here. As soon as she arrived at her parents' house, she remembers the wonderful time she spent here as a child. Especially the summer, when she experienced her first childhood love as a nine-year-old and spent a lot of time with a boy and a free-roaming Golden Retriever, still arouses deep feelings in her today.

The mid-thirties, however, is less happy to learn that her parents have sold their house because they want to spend their retirement years in Florida. Jessica would have liked to have bought her parents' house herself and now regrets not having taken care of her parents for the past three years. When Jessica met the buyer Michael a short time later, she tried a few tricks to undo the house purchase. Due to a clause in the purchase agreement, the purchase of the house is linked to the sale of Michael's old house. Neither Jessica nor Michael suspected that it was they who fell in love as children. Back then they had given themselves game names and never were given their first names. However, it is strange that Jessica meets a Golden Retriever on the first day of her arrival, who of all people belongs to Michael. So both are actually much closer to finding each other than they think. After Jessica discovered the "time capsule" in Michael that they both buried together at the time, she can hardly believe that he, whom she has just fought, should be her old love.

But instead of talking to Michael about it, she withdraws because she fears that he resented her sabotage against the sale of the house and that she would refuse. But when they face each other on Christmas Eve and the mysterious Golden Retriever bitch helps out a little, Michael also realizes that Jessica is the girl from back then. Shortly afterwards, the two discover that the bitch is pregnant, and after the puppies are born and have become independent, the retriever disappears into the forest, where she originally found Michael.
