Alley Mills (born May 9, 1951 in Chicago , Illinois ) is an American actress , mainly known from numerous television series. Her first television appearance was in 1979 in The Associates , a sitcom series that was discontinued after nine episodes.

Life

Alley Mills is the daughter of television executive Ted Mills and the writer and editor of American Heritage Magazine, Joan (Paterson) Mills Kerr. She has a sister, Hilary Mills Loomis, and a brother, Tony Mills. After early childhood roles in the television series Mr. Novak , Mills starred in The Diary of Adultery , Barefoot in the Park and also The Waltons . She got her first long role in the comedy The Associates , in which she played a lawyer and faced the then unknown Martin Short . This was followed by series such as Making the Grade , Hill Street Police Station and Dr. Quinn - a passionate doctor , where Mills played Marjorie Quinn, sister of Dr. Michaela Quinns played. In Wonderful Years she had the long-standing role of Norma Arnold, which she impersonated for 105 episodes. Mills played Pamela Douglas, the estranged sister of Stephanie Douglas Forrester , from 2006 to 2018 in The Bold and the Beautiful .

Private

Mills lives in Los Angeles. Her husband Orson Bean , with whom she had been married since 1993, died in a traffic accident in February 2020.
