The elements of the 8th, 9th and 10th group are collectively referred to as the iron-platinum group of the periodic table . So it includes the iron , cobalt and nickel group (the latter also (outdated) called the platinum group).

The group contains only heavy metals and the elements iron , cobalt , nickel , ruthenium , rhodium , palladium , osmium , iridium , platinum , hassium , meitnerium , Darmstadtium .

The precious metals ruthenium, rhodium, palladium, osmium, iridium and platinum are grouped together as platinum metals .

Hassium, Meitnerium and Darmstadtium are transuranic elements which can only be produced artificially and which disintegrate again very quickly.
