Sulzbachtal railway overpass

The Sulzbachtal railway overpass is a railway bridge on the new Stuttgart – Wendlingen line . It is part of the Stuttgart 21 project and crosses the Sulzbach valley , which gives it its name , south of the Baden-Württemberg community of Denkendorf , parallel to the valley bridge of the same name on federal motorway 8 . Construction of the bridge began in March 2012 and was completed in 2015.

With completion ten years before commercial commissioning, the structure is a soda bridge .

course

The planned bridge with a length of 365.40 m begins at construction kilometer 21.334. It is part of the plan approval section 1.4 of the Stuttgart 21 project.

construction

The superstructure is designed as a continuous girder structure made of prestressed concrete with seven openings and spans of 40.60 m / 52.20 m / 58.00 m / 63.80 m / 58.00 m / 52.20 m and 40.60 m. The pillars reach heights of up to 37 m and are up to 30 meters deep.

history

planning

The design of the bridge is based on the existing bridge of the A8 over the Sulzbachtal. Variants without continuous beams were examined, but rejected again due to the desired common appearance. A variant with constant spans of 46.0 m was also abandoned due to its restrictive view.

Implementation planning and construction of the Sulzbachtal bridge and the Denkendorf valley bridge were put out to tender in August 2010 in the Official Journal of the European Union. In October 2011, the construction of the bridge was awarded to the Adam Hörnig construction company from Aschaffenburg for around 9.5 million euros . Four commandments had been received for the building. Originally, the contract was estimated at 9.8 million euros.

construction

Construction work began in March 2012, and at the end of October 2013, the advance on the western abutment began. The advance should be completed in May 2014.

In February 2014, 7 of the 13 cycles of the incremental launching procedure were carried out. The last bar was completed on April 16, 2014. The structure should be completed in October 2015. The bridge was almost finished in early January 2015. The construction of a turning and installation area for the inspection of the railway overpass was subsequently approved in 2020.

A total of 2,000 tons of steel and 14,000 cubic meters of concrete were processed.
