Ice Cold Angels

Eiskalte Engel 2 (Eng. Cruel Intentions 2 ) is an American film from 2000. Directed by Roger Kumble, the lead roles were Robin Dunne, Sarah Thompson, Keri Lynn Pratt and Amy Adams.

The film was originally part of the Manchester Prep series , which was supposed to be a prequel and reboot of the movie Ice Cold Angels . However, the series was discontinued by Fox before it aired . The three episodes that had already been filmed were then re-cut and released directly on DVD as Eiskalte Engel 2 .

In 2004 Eiskalte Engel 3 was a sequel to the first part.

At the beginning of the film you can see how the main character, Sebastian Valmont, is called to his school principal because Sebastian is going to change schools because he is moving to his father. He married Tiffany Merteuil, his fourth wife, in New York, and wants to bring his son home because Sebastian's mother is addicted to alcohol and has to go to a clinic. As a “parting present” for his rector, Sebastian publishes a nude picture of his wife in the yearbook.

Upon arrival in New York, Sebastian noticed with astonishment that his father's new wife was very rich, because when he asked the driver which apartment in the huge city villa it was, the driver only replied laconically: "The whole building, sir" . When Sebastian enters the house, his father first introduces him to the attractive Tiffany, then her daughter Kathryn, who plays the moonlight sonata on a piano. When Sebastian asks if he can play the piano, Kathryn arrogantly clears his stool, whereupon Sebastian surprises everyone with an error-free performance of the flight of the bumblebee , a fast-paced and furious piece of music. At the following dinner he also verbally outdoes Kathryn by correcting a wrongly used foreign word. After Sebastian has left the room, Tiffany tells Kathryn that Sebastian is superior to her both on the piano and verbally, and that Kathryn should try harder.

Kathryn and Sebastian go to the elite Manchester Preparatory School. Kathryn leads a group of students who set out to bully unpopular students. Sebastian tries to flirt with Danielle, the director's daughter. While Sebastian gets on straight away with his classmates and his stepmother's domestic servants, Kathryn is unpopular because of her scheming manner. She is the student representative, which she achieved through the sexual blackmail of the deputy headmaster, who gave her the voice she needed. During her speech during the introductory event, Kathryn embarrassed herself, shortly afterwards another student accidentally spits chewing gum in her hair and then ruins the event completely by passing out.

At home, too, there are often arguments between Sebastian and Kathryn. When she comes home one day and sees that Sebastian is playing cards with the employees, the argument comes to a head. Sebastian accuses his stepsister of not treating the employees like people.

Sebastian's relationship with Danielle is growing ever closer. But when Kathryn finds out that Sebastian has falsified his school records in order to be accepted at Manchester, she threatens him with the announcement and tries to seduce him to have sex together. At first he lets himself into it, but then breaks away from her. She then announced that she would now call Danielle. Sebastian runs off and apparently arrives at Danielle in time to go to confession. When Danielle asks him if he believes in her love, he says "Yes!", To which she replies, "You stupid idiot!" And opens the door to her room. A triumphant Kathryn comes into the room and kisses Danielle. When Sebastian says that he must have lost, Kathryn says that it will show up, and the girls drag him to bed.

At the end you can see Sebastian photographing and seducing the girl who embarrassed Kathryn at the opening ceremony, while Kathryn and Danielle sit in front of the driver, grinning.

Reviews

Clint Morris wrote in Moviehole that the film is not original and not as good as the first part, but at least "fun". Wesley Lovell criticized in Apollo Guide that the film begins romantically, but the end destroys this mood.

The lexicon of international films wrote: "Continuation of the teenage farce" Eiskalte Engel "(1998/99) based on a social novel from the 18th century (...). The formerly convincing actors were replaced, whereby a rather uninspired remake was created. "
