Ekkehart Frieling

Ekkehart Frieling (born May 20, 1942 in Göttingen ) is a German psychologist and ergonomist .

Career

Ekkehart Frieling, son of the zoologist and color psychologist Heinrich Frieling , studied psychology from 1964 to 1968 at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . This was followed by activities as a research assistant with Carl Graf Hoyos at the University of Regensburg and from 1973 with Hermann Brandstätter at the University of Augsburg . With an assisted Count Hoyos work on job analysis doctorate Frieling 1974 at the Technical University of Munich Dr. phil. From 1977 Frieling was an academic councilor in Munich, where he qualified as a professor in 1979 with a text on the classification of occupations. After he had represented a professorship for industrial and industrial psychology at the University of Osnabrück in 1980, he was offered a professorship at the University of Kassel in 1982 . From 1991 to 1993 he worked in HR for BMW AG , during which time he was on leave from the university. In 2005 he became Vice President of what is now the University of Kassel. In 2007 Frieling retired .

Work areas

Frieling's areas of work were originally work analysis and work design. Together with Count Hoyos he developed in the late 1970s on the basis of the designed for the English-speaking Position Analysis Questionnaire (PAQ) the questionnaire for work analysis (FAA) , which for years a leading position in Germany enjoyed. At Lutz von Rosenstiel's chair in Munich, he later worked on the activity analysis inventory (TAI) , an instrument for work analysis that proved to be too unwieldy in practice, but brought theoretical suggestions for the subject and related research work pulled.

After his appointment to the chair in Kassel , Frieling dealt more and more with organizational psychological topics such as group work and organizational development . The Kassler Competence Grid (KKR) has gained importance in the field of competence measurement and development .
