The Elaeomyxa are a genus of the Myxogastria . Elaeomyxa is the only genus of the family of Elaeomyxidae and includes only four species.

features

The seated to stalked sporocarps are free of lime. In their stalks and occasionally in other parts of the fruiting body ( Columella , Capillitium ), waxes or oils can be found in droplet form. The delicate peridium is iridescent in color, the capillitium consists of dark, branched to cross-linked threads.

Systematics

Genus and family were first described by Robert Hagelstein in 1942 (the family, however, as a noun nudum , it was only validly published in 1982 by Marie L. Farr and Harold Willard Keller ). Type species is Elaeomyxa miyazakiensis, first described by Yoshikadzu Emoto in 1935 as Diachea miyazakiensis . Until evidence of the subhypothallic development of the fruiting bodies in 1980, the genus was mostly assigned to the Stemonitida .

Already at the first description, Hagelstein put the species previously described by Giulielma Lister as Diacheopsis cerifera or as Diachea cerifera as Elaeomyxa cerifera to the genus. The scope of the genus only changed in 2008 when two species previously assigned to the genus Lamproderma ( Lamproderma reticulosporum and Lamproderma australiensis ) were incorporated into Elaeomyxa .
