Eldo di Lazzaro
Eldo di Lazzaro (born February 1902 in Trivento , Campobasso province , † 1968 in Genoa ) was an Italian singer and composer of light music and film music .
Life
In 1939 he published the hit Reginella campagnola , which became so successful that it became the basis of the homeland film Am Abend auf der Heide by director Jürgen von Alten , which was produced in Germany in 1941 . In the USA the song was also known under the name The Woodpecker Song and u. a. sung and recorded by Kate Smith during the war in 1940 with The Andrews Sisters and the Glenn Miller Orchestra . Other performers were Tino Rossi , Rudi Schuricke , Glenn Miller , Will Glahé , Ernst Mosch , Frank Sinatra , the Everly Brothers and others. a.
