Am Abend auf der Heide is a German homeland film by Jürgen von Alten from 1941. The main roles are starring Magda Schneider and Heinz Engelmann as well as Else von Möllendorff , Günther Lüders and Lotte Rausch .
The script is based on a novella by FB Cortan alias Rudolf Beissel.

The composer Jürgen Holsten, author of the successful song Am Abend auf der Heide , is a real hallodri who lives with his friendship into the day. When one day his publisher Fischer refused to give him an advance on the grounds that Holsten always gave him the same music, he wanted something new for once, the composer remembers that he has been the owner of the Holstenhof in the Lüneburg Heath for some time inherited. His plan is immediately clear, he wants to turn the inheritance into money.
On the farm, Holsten meets the country doctor Dr. Brandt, who in his unmistakable way knows how to arouse Holsten's interest and ambition in the court, so that the composer is wavering in his decision. However, this is also due to the fact that Holsten von Änne Brandt, the country doctor's niece, is very impressed. Änne is the housekeeper of the Holstenhof. However, she is not on the best of terms with the new owner, as she has let him know in several letters in the past that the farm is not doing too well. She had never received an answer. Dr. Brandt shows Holsten his deceased uncle's impressive collection of watches, which is one of the reasons that the farm is overloaded with mortgages and also in need of repairs, as his uncle only had his watches in mind.
Holsten has to take note that the dairy owner Jensen has also kept an eye on Änne, as well as on the farm. The difficulties and resistance also stimulate him to come up with a completely different plan than the one that had led him to the Holstenhof. He wants to keep the farm and above all he wants to win Änne's affection. When Klaus, a former servant of his farm, returns home-sick, thanks to his ability he is a great help for Holsten, as is the maid Fite, to whom Klaus is very fond. Klaus then also ensures that the auction of the watch collection provides money for the creditors and for the renovation of the farm.
Difficulties arise, however, when film people from Berlin arrive to shoot recordings for a heather film in the courtyard. Among them are Holsten's friend Knoll and befriended actress Evi Birkner. All sorts of circumstances mean that Änne has to assume that there is more than friendship between Holsten and Evi. Änne, who had just started to believe in Holsten's love for her, is hurt. It comes to a bad argument between the two with the result that Änne wants to leave her beloved Holstenhof. Before she can implement her plan, however, the courtyard is in danger from flying sparks from the Heidebahn and a spreading fire. Now the cohesion of the heather residents is evident, who can put out the fire and save the courtyard in a joint action in which the film people also take part. There is also a happy ending for Jürgen and Änne, they find each other again and are certain that they will be able to make the Heidehof one of the most beautiful and profitable of all the farms around.

It is a production of the Cine Allianz Tonfilm-Produktionsgesellschaft mbH (Berlin). Felix Pfitzner took over the management of manufacturing and production . The film was distributed worldwide through Deutsche Filmexport GmbH, distributed by Urban - Pfeiffer - Deutschland-Ring-Film. Tobis-Klangfilm was responsible for the sound system, Gustav A. Knauer and Botho Höfer for the buildings . The shooting took place from September 23, 1940 in the Lüneburg Heath (exterior shots) and ended at the beginning of October of the same year. The studio recordings were made in the Althoff studio in Babelsberg from October 11, 1940 . In addition to Am Abend auf der Heide by Eldo di Lizarro (text: Klaus F. After the film passed the censorship on February 4, 1941, it premiered on February 11, 1941 at the Busch cinema in Vienna. The Berlin premiere was on March 20, 1941 in three cinemas (Atrium, Ufa-Theater Friedrichstrasse and Ufa-Theater Tauentzien-Palast). In February 1942 the film was released under the title Hurrá, itt a tavasz! published in Hungary on June 29, 1942 under the title Kærlighed ved andet Blik in Denmark.
Icestorm Distribution GmbH released the film on DVD on July 11, 2016.

criticism
The author and critic Karlheinz Wendtland was of the opinion that the film served "the most varied of tastes: life in artistic circles, film people among themselves, the entire range of the heathland with its people including country doctor, the joys and worries of these people, then again in society Stadt, Ilse Meudtner from the State Opera tanz [e] ”. “Outstanding” is the performance of Günther Lüders as servant and Oscar Sabo as broker.
