Electric Eel Shock (abbreviated EES ) is a three-piece rock band from Japan .
history

Akihito Morimoto (guitar / vocals) and Kazuto Maekawa ( bass ) met at a school in Osaka . Together they shared their love of British and American hard rock , heavy and hairspray metal artists such as Black Sabbath , Van Halen , Judas Priest , Ratt and Twisted Sister . After moving to Tokyo and trying to become a pop musician, Kazuto joined the funk band The Apollo's. There he met drummer Tomoharu "Gian" Ito. Together with Akihito they then founded Electric Eel Shock, initially as a funk band with an 11-person line-up. But since you could rehearse so rarely, the decision was made to continue with the basic cast. In 1998 they released their self-produced debut album Maybe I think, We Can Beat Nirvana , then the live album Live Punctured . With the 2000 album Slayers Bay Blues they dared a concert tour to America .
In 2000 the group decided to move to the United States with their new tour manager, Bob Slayer. After a nearly two-year tour, on which the band lived alone from selling merchandise and their two albums, they recorded the album Go America . The album was originally sold as a split EP with the Get-Gos in Japan, but then several tracks were added and sold as a full-fledged album. At the end of 2002 they went on an extensive tour of Great Britain at the invitation of a fanzine writer . The hobby journalist eventually became her manager and Electric Eel Shock began shuttling back and forth between Europe and the United States. In 2003 the band played at the Roskilde Festival , the South by Southwest Festival and the CMJ Music Marathon . There was also a European tour with Danko Jones in the opening act. In 2004 the album Go Europe was released on the label Bitzcore Records (Europe) / Demolition Records (Great Britain / Japan), or Go USA! via Gearhead Records.
In 2005 the album Beat Me was released with producer Attie Bauw , who already worked with Judas Priest, Scorpions and The Gathering . The album was recorded in the Netherlands. Then the band went on an extended world tour again. The collaboration with Bauw continued in 2007 with Transworld Ultra Rock and in 2009 with Sugoi Indeed . To finance Sugoi Indeed , the band has broken new ground. The necessary budget was made available directly by the fans via the Sellaband website .
Music genre
Electric Eel Shock come from the garage rock scene and initially played a lo-fi style, but as it became more and more professional it became more and more professional. In particular, producer Attie Bauw played a part in this. In addition to typical hard rock and metal influences, Krautrock elements also increasingly came into the music on the album Beat Me .
