Elena Kolesnitschenko (born December 26, 1981 in Charkow ) is a Ukrainian pianist. Above all, she is an interpreter of the works of Ludwig van Beethoven .

Life

At the age of seven, Kolesnichenko received his first piano lessons. After her school education in the special music schools for gifted children in Kharkov and Moscow, she continued her studies at the University of Music and Theater in Hanover with Vladimir Krainev and Hatto Beyerle .

Elena Kolesnitschenko began her international career in 1990 at UN concerts in New York and at the Pope's residence in the Vatican. She took part in the Salzburg Festival , the Verbier Festival , the Colmar International Festival and the Braunschweig Classix Festival. In addition, she played u. a. with the Russian National Orchestra, the Chamber Orchestra of Moscow Virtuosos, the Filarmonica Banatul (Romania), the Bonn Classical Philharmonic and the Collegium Musicum Basel . There were also concerts at the Wiener Musikverein , in Palau de la Musica Barcelona, ​​in the Moscow Conservatory and in the Great Hall of the Cologne Philharmonic . As a chamber musician, she has worked with Vladimir Spivakov , Vladimir Krainev, Dmitry Aschkenasy and Maxim Rysanov, among others . She forms a permanent lied duo with the German soprano Cecilia de Maizière.

Elena Kolesnitschenko has worked on CD productions with Arcadi Volodos , among others , as well as radio and television productions.

Among other things, she released the CD "Beethoven / Thalberg" with works by Beethoven and Thalberg and "Die Kunst der Variation" with works by Sergei Rachmaninov, Felix Mendelsohn-Bartoldy and Robert Schumann.

Movie

In 2000 Elena Kolesnitschenko played one of the four main roles in the documentary Russia's Wunderkinder (WDR / ARTE / Filmstiftung NRW) by Irene Langemann . In April 2010 the sequel The Competitors came into the cinemas. The series deals with the education of Russian “child prodigies”, but also with their difficulties and successes in adulthood.
