Elena Richter (born July 3, 1989 in Berlin ) is a German archer in the Olympic discipline of recurve bows .

Life

Elena Richter is a sports soldier and lives in Berlin. Richter studies psychology at the Fern-Uni Hagen. The B national team athlete starts for the archery club Bergmann Borsig Berlin and is trained by Oliver Haidn. She was initially very successful as a junior. At the European Championships in 2003 she won the team gold medal, in 2004 at the World Championships silver, in 2005 at the European Championships and in 2006 at the World Championships bronze. At the European Championships in 2007 she won the individual title and thus her first and only individual medal.

Since 2006 Richter has also taken part in competitions for women in the performance sector. At the European Championships in Jaén , she won the bronze medal with Christina Schäfer and Karina Winter behind Turkey and Ukraine. In the individual she was ninth. The next international appearances followed two years later at the European Indoor Championships in Turin , where she just missed a medal in fourth place in the team. In the singles she came in 19th place. In 2009 Richter first took part in the World Indoor Championships in Rzeszów , finished 25th in the individual and won silver with Susanne Possner and Karina Winter behind the Italian team. In the further course of the year she started at the outdoor world championships in Ulsan , where she was 48th of the individual and eleventh with the team. At the European Championships 2010 in Rovereto , Richter came ninth in both the individual and the team and won the silver medal with Sebastian Rohrberg in mixed behind the Italians Marco Galiazzo and Natalia Valeeva . In 2011 it started at the World Championships in Turin, where judge was 33rd of the individual and ninth team. Richter achieved her greatest success at the 2011 European Championships in Montevarchi , where she won the individual title ahead of Christine Bjerendal and Anna Botto . In the team standings she was sixth. At the European Championships 2012 in Amsterdam , she won a medal with Lisa Unruh and Karina Winter with bronze in the team competition behind France and Spain. In the singles as well as in the mixed with Florian Floto she finished ninth. At the Olympic Summer Games in London , she was 30th of the 64 starters in the preliminary fight and scored 645 rings. In the first round she defeated Maja Jager 6: 5, but then lost to Tan Ya-ting 2: 6 in round two .
