biography

At the age of 15, Zurbriggen took part in FIS races and national junior races from December 2005 . In the first few years he could hardly ever celebrate successes worth mentioning, so that it was never enough for him to participate in the Junior World Championships. It wasn't until the 2009/10 season that a certain increase in performance began to appear. His first appearance in the European Cup was in January 2011.

Although he had only finished once in the European Cup points, Zurbriggen started the World Cup for the first time on January 12, 2013 . Although he was eliminated in the giant slalom in Adelboden , his appearance at Chuenisbärgli caused a lot of media hype - not least because of his famous father and the generally poor performance of the Swiss ski team this winter. About three weeks later, the first top 5 placements in the European Cup followed. On February 24, 2013, he finished 26th in the giant slalom in Garmisch-Partenkirchen , winning his first World Cup points. Finally, on March 2, 2013, he achieved his first victory in a European Cup giant slalom.

As a result, Zurbriggen struggled to establish himself in the World Cup, he hardly ever succeeded in qualifying for a second round. In the winter of 2014/15 he had only one countable result, the 13th place in the giant slalom in Åre on December 12, 2014. After a disappointing 2015/16 season, during which he never made it into the second round of a World Cup race, he succeeded a marked increase in performance for him in the 2016/17 season. In the European Cup giant slalom he achieved four podium places, which brought him victory in the discipline classification. On March 4, 2017, he finished 8th in the giant slalom in Kranjska Gora , making it into the top 10 for the only time in a World Cup race. In the following two winters, he sporadically placed himself in the points.

After not achieving a countable result in the 2019/20 season, Zurbriggen retired from active racing in March 2020. Three months later he took over the management of the “Paradies” restaurant in Findeln .
