Eliana Gaete

Eliana Gaete ( Eliana Gaete Lazo; born April 14, 1932 in María Elena , Región de Antofagasta ) is a former Chilean hurdler , sprinter , long jumper and middle distance runner .

At the South American Athletics Championships she won bronze in the long jump in Rio de Janeiro in 1947 and bronze over 80 m hurdles in Lima in 1949 .

In 1951 she won the Pan American Games in Buenos Aires over the 80 m hurdles and took silver with the Chilean quartet in the 4 x 100 meter relay .

In 1954 she won silver over 80 m hurdles at the South American Championships in Rio de Janeiro . At the Pan American Games in Mexico City in 1955 , she defended her title over 80 m hurdles and won bronze with the Chilean 4 x 100 meter relay. In the following year, silver over 80 m hurdles and bronze over 100 m followed at the South American Championships in Santiago in 1956 .

In 1959 she was fifth in the long jump at the Pan American Games in Chicago , in 1960 she won bronze over 80 m hurdles at the Ibero-American Games, and in 1963 she was eighth over 800 m at the Pan American Games in São Paulo .
