Elias Wessel

Elias Wessel (* 1978 in Bonn - Bad Godesberg ) is a German artist. He lives and works in Germany and New York City.

Life

Growing up in Speyer am Rhein, Wessel completed his art studies at the Hochschule für Gestaltung in Offenbach am Main in cooperation with the Hochschule für Bildende Künste, Städelschule Frankfurt am Main . Wessel develops photographic approaches and concepts that lead to abstract images that reflect contemporary social discourses. His works are both a contribution to questions of social and political development (including digitization, surveillance, identity, gentrification) and to the historical dialogue between photography and painting. He has lived and worked as a freelance artist in Germany and New York since 2008.
