Elina Salomäki (born October 19, 1981 in Kajaani ) is a Finnish volleyball coach and former volleyball player.

Career

Salomäki started her career with Kauhajoen Karhu . She played in Australia from 2000 to 2002 before going to the University of Mississippi . From 2003 she studied at Louisiana State University and played on the university team. There she was also active as a trainer from 2006 to 2008. She then returned to Finland and was under contract for one season each with the Vanajan Racing Club in Hämeenlinna and Someron Pallo. In 2010 the attacker switched to Pieksämäki Volley. In June 2012 she made her debut for the Finnish national team . In the same year she was signed by the second team of the Bundesliga club Rote Raben Vilsbiburg , which plays in the second division. With Finland she took part in the 2013 European Championship . Then Salomäki moved from second to the First Bundesliga to the Ladies in Black Aachen . With Aachen she reached the semi-finals of the German championship in 2014; it was the greatest success in the club's history. After the end of the season, her contract was not extended. In 2015 she went to CV Aguere in Tenerife for one season .

Salomäki was also active in individual beach volleyball tournaments . In 2006 she played a tournament on the American AVP Tour and in 2011 a Challenger tournament in Varna . In the summer of 2013, she and her younger sister Hanna competed in the national tournament series.

In 2017 she ended her career as a player and took over the post of head coach at the Finnish club Puijo Wolley .
