Elisabeth Gülich

Elisabeth Gülich (* 1937 ) is a German linguist . From 1979 to 1981 she taught as a professor for text linguistics at the Free University of Berlin. She then worked as a professor of Romance studies and linguistics at Bielefeld University until 2002 . Gülich's main research interests are in the areas of conversation analysis , medical communication and text linguistics.

Life

After studying French, Latin and sport at the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg , the University of Kiel and the University of Vienna , Gülich passed a state examination for teaching at a grammar school in 1964 . In 1969 she did her doctorate at the University of Cologne in Romance Studies , Hispanic Studies and Middle Latin with a thesis on the topic of macro syntax of structural signals in spoken French . From 1969 Gülich was a research assistant at Bielefeld University and in 1976 she completed her habilitation there. In addition to her activities as a professor in Berlin and Bonn, she was visiting professor and teaching at the Universities of Lyon 2, Paris 8, Jyväskylä, Debrecen, Vienna and Thessaloniki from 1981 to 2002. From 1988 to 1990 Gülich was the first chairwoman of the German Society for Linguistics.
