Elisabeth Church

The Evangelical Lutheran Elisabeth Church is located in Lindau , a district of the Heideland community in the Saale-Holzland district in Thuringia . It belongs to the parish Eisenberg-Königshofen in the church district Eisenberg of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .

history

From 1760–1762 today's hall church was built in place of a previous building. The church is similar to that of neighboring Großhelmsdorf , which was an ecclesiastical branch of Lindau.

description

The church has a recessed square choir tower . On the upper floor it is octagonal, there is the belfry . Here is a bell that Heinrich Ziegeler cast in 1520. In 1761 the first floor of the tower was separated from the nave as a sacristy . That year the dome and the tower ball were also renewed. The church tower originally had a lantern . It was destroyed in World War II. They were removed during the repair, giving the tower its present-day distinctive appearance. The interior is covered with a coffered ceiling, the fields of which are framed from stucco . The galleries are on three sides, on the long sides they are two-story. The pulpit altar stands in front of the east wall . Next to its pilasters are side passages over which there is carving. The Lindau people enter the church through the north door, the Rudelsdorfers through the south door and the west door was the men's access to the galleries. The boxes on either side of the altar belonged to the families of teachers and pastors.

organ

The organ with 13 registers, divided into 2 manuals and pedal, was built in 1863 by Conrad Geißler from Eilenburg . It was last repaired in 1999.
