Elke Van Gorp (born May 12, 1995 ) is a Belgian soccer player who has played for the Belgian women's national soccer team since 2014 and who scored the Belgian women’s first ever European Championship goal.

Career

Van Gorp played for Lierse SK for several years in the BeNe League , the joint women's league of the Belgian and Dutch associations and the highest football league in Belgium, the Eerste Klasse , then moved to KAA Gent , with whom she won the Belgian Cup in May 2017 with a 3: 1 against Anderlecht. For the 2017/18 season she switched to the final opponent RSC Anderlecht , with whom she then won the Belgian championship twice.

National teams

On June 7, 2010, she played her first and only international match for the Belgian U-15 team. On September 8 and 10, she then played her first two appearances in the U-17 team in two friendly matches against Switzerland, which ended 2: 3 and 2: 0. At the beginning of October, she and the team took part in the first qualifying round for the 2011 U-17 European Football Championship in her home country . With two goals, which she scored in stoppage time, she helped ensure that her team reached the second qualifying round as group winners. In this round, which was held in the Czech Republic in April 2011, they lost their first game against Spain 2-0. They were able to win the other two games 1-0 and the Spaniards also lost a game, but in the end the direct comparison spoke against the Belgians. In September she took part again in the first qualifying round for the U-17 European Football Championship for women in 2012 and was able to qualify with her team for the second round, in which she then no longer took part. In October 2012, she then took part in the first qualifying round for the 2013 U-19 European Women's Football Championship in Croatia . Here she scored her first two goals for the U-19 team in a 4-0 win against the Faroe Islands. Equal on points with Ukraine, but the fewer goals they scored, they reached the second round in second place. This was held in April 2013 in her home country. In the first game against the French, however, they could not use the home advantage and lost 2-0. Although they then won the other two games, but since the French did not give up a point, it was enough for the Belgians only to finish second and as the third-best runner-up they missed the finals. In September 2013, she participated in the first qualifying round for the 2014 Women's U-19 European Football Championship . In Hungary they prevailed with three victories and they also survived the second round in April 2014 in their own country with three victories, eliminating record winners Germany . At the finals in Norway, however, they then lost all three games and were eliminated as the bottom of the group. That ended her time as a junior national player.

Her first appearance in the senior national team followed on September 13, 2014 . She was in the starting eleven in the penultimate game of qualifying for the 2015 World Cup against Greece and scored the 10-0 with her first goal for the A-Elf. In the next 16 games she was not used only three times and took part with the team for the first time in the Cyprus Cup 2015 , in which the Belgians only finished last. It was also used in the first qualifying games for the 2017 European Championship . In March 2016, the Belgians took part in the Algarve Cup 2016 for the first time, where they were used in all games and finished fifth with a 5-0 win against Russia . In the next 15 games, however, it was only used twice. It was not until June 2017 that it was considered again in preparation for the European Championship finals and then also nominated for the finals. In this she scored the first final goal for the Belgians in the second group game in a 2-0 win against Norway . In the last group game against the Netherlands, she was substituted in the 57th minute when the score was 0: 1. Her team-mate Tessa Wullaert equalized two minutes later, but it only lasted 15 minutes and the Belgians were eliminated with the 2-1 defeat.

On September 19, 2017, she played over 90 minutes in a 12-0 record win in the World Cup qualifying against Moldova , but could not participate in the scoring. In the playoffs of qualification, the Belgians failed due to the away goals rule after a 2-2 home game and a 1-1 away game against Switzerland, which ultimately could not qualify.
