Elkin Murillo (born September 20, 1977 in Apartadó ) is a former Colombian football player . The striker played for the Colombian national team between 2001 and 2007.

The 1.75 m tall player initially ran for Deportes Quindío until 1999 and played for Independiente Medellín from 1999 to 2000 . This was followed by the move to league rivals Deportivo Cali , for whom Murillo played 106 times and scored 22 goals. In January 2004 he then moved abroad for the first time, namely to LDU Quito in Ecuador . For the Red-Blue he made 97 games and netted 17 times. Three years after starting his engagement there, he moved back to his home country to Atlético Nacional , the greatest rival of his former club Independiente . There he was able to win the Colombian championship with his team in 2007. In mid-2008 he moved to Sporting Cristal in Peru, but moved on to Técnico Universitario Ambato in Ecuador at the beginning of 2009 . At the beginning of 2010 he returned to Colombia and was hired by his hometown club Deportes Quindío. He ended his career in 2013.

National team

Murillo took part in the Copa America in 2001 and 2004 with his national team. In both tournaments he was used in all games in his country, but could not score once. He was able to record another tournament participation at the 2003 CONCACAF Gold Cup in the United States . Here he only played one game and failed to score again. He was also at the Confederations Cup 2003 , where he ran twice.
