Ella Riemersma
Ella (Eelkje) Riemersma (born June 27, 1903 in Dordrecht , † 1993 in Vienna ) was a Dutch graphic artist and illustrator . She also published under the initials: "ER" and "Ella R.".
Life
Her father, Peter Riemersma, worked as a lawyer. The family moved from Leeuwarden to Dordrecht in 1901 , where Ella was born. The family later moved to Amsterdam and in 1932 to The Hague . Nothing is known about their training. In 1924 she was a member of the “Pictura” painters' society in Dordrecht. After 1945 she lived in Hilversum with her husband Jan Anne Bordes . After the death of her husband in 1948, she went to Vienna, where she died completely anonymously in 1993.

Ella Riemersma, Art Deco artist , illustrated books and made fashion drawings for De Groene Amsterdammer en De Vrouw en haar Huis . She designed a number of book covers and illustrations for the following publishers: HW Becht, Jacob van Campen, PN van Kampen, JM Meulenhoff , NV. Ontwikkeling, EM Querido , Van Holkema in Warendorf, LJ Veen, Elsevier in Amsterdam, Hollandia-drukkerij in Baarn, P. van Belkum Az in Zutphen, GB van Goor, Philip Kruseman in Den Haag, W. de Haan, AW Bruna & Zoon in Utrecht, Kluitman in Alkmaar, JH Kok in Kampen and P. Valkhoff in Amersfoort. She illustrated numerous books for children.
She also processed advertising contracts for the “Gemeentelijk Electriciteitsbedrijf” in Amsterdam and the “Cacaofabriek Driessen”. For "Weenenk & Snel" she designed several series of postcards and greeting cards. In 1925 she designed the cover illustration for the typographic magazine “Het Tarief”.
