Ellenbach is a district of the town of Hersbruck in Middle Franconia .

The village is located about two and a half kilometers south-southeast of the center of Hersbruck and just under two kilometers south of federal highway 14 .

history

Ellenbach was first mentioned in a document in 1275. As a result of the Landshut War of Succession , the town came into the possession of the imperial city of Nuremberg , as did the surrounding area. In the following three centuries, Ellenbach was assigned to the Reicheneck municipal nursing office.

As a result of the administrative reforms carried out in the Kingdom of Bavaria at the beginning of the 19th century , the place became an independent rural community with the second municipal edict, to which the village of Weiher and the hamlet of Leutenbach also belonged. In the course of the communal territorial reform carried out in Bavaria in the 1970s , the municipality of Ellenbach was incorporated into the city of Hersbruck in 1972. In 2017 Ellenbach had 481 inhabitants.
