Altensittenbach is a district of the town of Hersbruck in Middle Franconia .

geography

The center of the parish village is a little more than a kilometer west of the Hersbruck market square. In the east, the transition to the core town is fluid, the two towns have grown together. In the west, Altensittenbach is bounded by the federal highway 14 , which passes not far from the outskirts .

history

Altensittenbach was first mentioned in a document in 1070, when the place was mentioned as a property of the Berg family.

As a result of the administrative reforms carried out in the Kingdom of Bavaria at the beginning of the 19th century , the place became an independent rural municipality with the second municipal edict, to which the village of Kühnhofen and the wasteland of Hagenmühle also belonged. In the course of the communal territorial reform carried out in Bavaria in the 1970s , the municipality of Altensittenbach was incorporated into the city of Hersbruck in 1976. A small part of the community had already been moved to Hersbruck two years earlier. In 2017 the place had 2368 inhabitants.

traffic

The state road St 2404 connects Altensittenbach to the federal road 14 that passes west of the town, while the eastward district road LAU 30 connects to the center of Hersbruck. The nearest train station is Hersbruck (Pegnitz on the right) , which is about 800 meters from the center of Altensittenbach.

Attractions

There are numerous architectural monuments in Altensittenbach, an outstanding monument being the Evangelical Lutheran parish church of St. Thomas.
