Elliott Randall (1970)

Elliott Randall (* 1947 ) is a rock guitarist who became known through his work with Steely Dan .

Randall played guitar solo in Steely Dan's Reelin 'in the Years in 1972 , which was voted # 40 of the best guitar solos by readers of Guitar World magazine. Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page has called this guitar solo his all-time favorite .

In 1980 he played the solo on Fame .

Career

Randall first learned the piano and switched to the guitar at the age of 9. In 1963 he met Richie Havens , then in 1968 Donald Fagen and Walter Becker . This contact led to his collaboration on the first Steely Dan album Can't Buy a Thrill in 1972 . Although he declined the invitation to become a permanent member of Steely Dan, he also played on the albums Katy Lied (1975) and The Royal Scam (1976).

Randall then became a sought-after live musician, playing with Jeff Baxter , the Doobie Brothers , Carly Simon , Peter Frampton , Asia and others.
