Katy Lied is the fourth studio album by the US band Steely Dan .

General

Steely Dan had stopped touring and was a pure studio band from then on. As a result, this was the first album on which many different studio musicians played instead of a permanent band.

Jeff Porcaro , then 20, played drums on all songs except Any World (That I'm Welcome To) .

Cover and title of the album

The album cover shows an image of an insect known as Katydid in English-speaking countries (Australia, South Africa, Canada and the USA) . It is a kind of grasshopper , a "singing" insect (which produces sounds through stridulation ), related to crickets and grasshoppers . The album title is a descriptive play on words that refers to the song Doctor Wu , in which the lines of text Katy tried, I was halfway crucified and Katy lies, you can see it in her eyes appear.
